Roy‘s Restaurant is a nice restaurant right at the Waterfront area in San Diego. The Signature Drink „Roy’s Hawaiian Martini“ was delicious, the Coconut Rum adds an interesting taste to the Classic.Apart from that, the Filet Mignon was on point and even the side was fantastic. The view from the balcony is awesome, the service very good, both friendly and reasonably quick. The prices however are a little too high.
I went there three times in one week. What does that tell you? Okay, I give this food 10/10 across the board. The tempura-fried shrimp and mushroom appetizer was addictive like the best popcorn. It was light, flavorful, and with a nice sweet bite.I tried two separate fish entrees this week, both of which were cooked perfectly so the fish was moist, buttery, and went flawlessly with every sauce and side. My favorite entree was by the rack of lamb though.Unlike a lot of rack of lamb this wasn't super fatty. The meat was cooked exactly how I wanted it, and it had some sort of "shiso mint" flavoring that sounds intense, but it wasn't.And it was mellowed out even more with some silky butternut squash and a lovely, tangy sauce. It was the best rack of lamb I've ever had in any restaurant.Ever.End of story. Just when you think things can't get any better, may I introduce you to the macadamia nut bread pudding.Talk about paradise in a bite! Soft, buttery, luxurious, toasted coconut flakes and coconut ice cream to really bring out the flavor ...insert pure-happiness smile here. Many people who work there are five-star.What helpful, kind, professional, attentive staff. The manager (a younger guy who I believe is named Ben) is responsible for convincing my party to give the restaurant a second try so soon. And the waitresses we had Christina C, Jaclyn E, and Kristen J are all fantastic at their jobs too! The only flaws of the restaurant are that food doesn't tend to come out hot. While the chefs deserve all the awards for flavor, creativity, and quality; they need to work on the temperature that dishes are when they leave the kitchen. Also, their brunch is misadvertised.11AM or not, a menu with only lunch and dinner items is not brunch. But hey, that being said, even at room temp or below, the food was so good and the service was so good, I kept coming back. And I hope to come back again soon. What a great menu concept, team, and overall establishment!
Excellent food and a nice restaurant on the Marina connected to the Marriott Marquis. Food was fresh and tasty. Warm and friendly servers ensured we had a great time.
