There used to be a Ra Sushi in Chicago (I believe it closed, at the time of writing - 2024), and it used to be one of favorite spots to hang out at the start of a weekend. So I was very excited to see that Austin's is still open.I went during a weekday around 10pm, and I'd say it was at about 10% occupancy. The decor is really nice. The big, red neon light bulbs all over, in addition to their house/lounge music playlist created a very relaxing, semi-upscale ambience.Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food as much.Literally everything except for the soups and salads were overly salty. And to me, that wasn't very pleasant. It's as if the underlying tastes were there, but that at the end, the chef decided to just sprinkle handfuls of salt over everything and stir them. The salt was overbearing to the point that my friends and I could not finish over a half hour plates.I'm not sure if that is a regional change, or if all the remaining Ra Sushi adopted the same. That said, for the ambience, drinks, and atmosphere, I would still say, give it a go if you're in the neighborhood. If you don't mind or like very salty food you will have a blast.Otherwise, keep it to the drinks and sushi

Justin, We appreciate you dining with RA, thank you for the kind words!
The service here is kind of lack luster. Our waiter didn’t refill our waters for almost the entire visit. It took over 20 minutes for a cocktail I ordered mid meal to come so my food was basically finished by the time it finally arrived. Our appetizer came out after the main course. The edamame was just okay. The vegetarian roll was 30% low quality spring mix that absolutely ruined it.Plus the vegetarian roll was poorly wrapped so it was just falling apart everywhere. The food is over priced for the mediocre quality.I have heard RA described as the Chili’s of Austin Sushi restaurants and it’s pretty on par with my experience.
