Heard good things about this place and have to check it out. I got a 2 scopes poke salad. The fish was fresh and deliciously marinated with sauce. Unlike other places with just cut up fish, this is really Hawaiian style with marinated sauce. I like spicy poke. The spicy level here was perfect for me. The crunchy fried onions as the garnish topping was the perfect addition to the meal. I don’t remember a poke place with fried onions as a topping choice. I chose the spicy mayo as the sauce because it will go well with the fish. However, the server recommended me to add more liquidy sauce because I chose a salad instead of rice. The recommendation made a delicious meal even more enjoyable! Applause this above and beyond service! We will be back to try other items.
We can begin with the fact that this establishment, compared to other Poke Shops does have marinated Tuna, and salmon which can be considered more traditional to what is typically served in this Hawaiian dish. However, the price, atmosphere and service left little to be desired and doesn’t invite me to recommend it to others or to come back. 3 scoops of protein costs a whopping $21.00 which considering the price, serving sizes should be a little more generous.I’ve had scoops of icecream much larger.I’ve been to other poke places like grubby’s in Carlsbad which has similar prices to Pacific Poke, yet they are more generous in serving sizes of protein.Toppings from Pacific Poke were also small, about 1 tbsp excluding the seaweed salad which I was given a little more. For this price and quality of food, I excepted more. Regarding service, the server was polite, quiet and reserved which is not an issue but when I requested less of something or a little more of something she sounded annoyed and would add or remove what I requested in a begrudging way. Even though it was cold outside and I was quite hungry I decided to sit outside rather than inside because the environment was not very welcoming. Yes, the fish is good quality and more “authentic” to the cultural dish, but take your money elsewhere.
Love this place! Good quality poke with yummy toppings. So glad a place like this opened up in this area.I got the garlic ahi and spicy salmon this time.
