They have something really special here! From the wait with the most delicious cocktails and mock tails to the neighborhood-locally sourced fresh ingredients the whole place and all the food was such a vibe.We love that the menu changes weekly. This week we had the watermelon salad 12/10 and the tomato salad and Caesar salads. Both 12/10 as well.We shared crispy Brussels which were the best I’ve ever had ever! Then one of us had the sea bass with lavender foam (they had a fancier name for the foam) & I had the sweet tea brined springer mountain farm chicken - the best chicken I’ve had in a long time!!! Everything was simply delicious and the staff and Rivers were so friendly kind and attentive. We will be back!
Old Man River is one of my new favorites in Chattanooga. The atmosphere is very relaxed and fun, it reminds me of nicer pubs/taverns that I’ve visited. It has a very nice hometown feel and the owner is involved. He made sure that everyone in our party had an excellent experience. The staff was very friendly as well and had good chemistry with each other. This restaurant has an excellent beer selection, I had a Sierra Nevada Octoberfest which was on draft and phenomenal. The owner even went next door to Merv’s to get a sprite for our daughter. That was a very kind gesture and totally unexpected. We ordered Beef Short Ribs, Lemon Ricotta Ravioli and Sweet Tea Chicken. I thought the food would be good, but it far exceeded expectations.First, the presentation of each dish was next level. The portions were hearty and were prepared to perfection. It was obvious that the ravioli was house made and full of fresh ingredients. The beef short ribs fell apart when the fork touched them. Finally, the chicken was moist and tender.Easily one of the best meals that we have had recently. We will certainly be enjoying dinner at Old Man River again very soon.Their menu changes weekly, so there is a surprise in store for you each visit.
Such a good home cooked meal! A great addition to the Chattanooga food scene. If you come for dinner, it’s worth the wait if there is one- don’t walk out and go somewhere else because the food at any other restaurant without a wait won’t be anywhere near as good and fresh as this.We will definitely be back, and can’t wait to check out their lunch as well!
