Morea Restaurant

The Morea Restaurant has its pros and cons.
They have only been open for about a year, so in some regards as noted below, they are still on a shakedown cruise. Our party of six had mixed reviews.
The crispy brussels sprouts were tasty but plating was less than impressive.
The 8oz Angus Burger on a fresh brioche bun with piquillo aioli, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato was excellent and cooked to order. The herb French fries were thin sliced and tasty but arrived a bit late out of the fryer and thus were somewhat soggy.
The baby romaine Caesar salad was fresh and plated well. The Oxford chicken with crispy bacon, Swiss cheese and wild mushroom sauce was very tough and drowned in cheese sauce– definitely not a dish to order. The restaurant can seat well over 50 people but was relatively empty at dinnertime.
The atmosphere was relaxing with acceptably spaced seating, so you don’t feel crowded no matter where you sit.
There is also outside dining available.
The restroom was small but clean. The most annoying aspect of dining here was the very long wait time of almost 45 minutes with no explanation or apology from the waiter.
If you like a quiet place to dine, the acoustics here will disappoint.
One table about 15 feet away from our table had a loud group of four people which made having a normal toned conversation difficult.
The other issue was perhaps due to an inexperienced chef since the food seemed to be made out of sync – some of the meals were barely warm when served.
I would give this place more time to iron out their food prep and serving time before going back.

The menu has a wide selection of drinks and yummies. The food: not only delicious and creative, but also beautifully plated. Service: Normally I am not happy with my service because either a place is too crowded and I get forgotten about or waitstaff show up too often and make me feel like they are rushing my party.
This was just right.
They picked up plates quickly and discretely and asked how everything was or if we wanted more, but didn't show up so often that I couldn't enjoy my friend's company. The ambiance: You guessed it.
Unique and lovely. This place checks off all the boxes.

Great addition to the Oxford area. The owner was there while we were there, he was very friendly and helpful. From outside it doesn't stand out too much, but when you walk in...
it's gorgeous! Love the rustic wood and brick accents. They have some really great specialty cocktails on their menu to choose. I had the hibiscus margarita which was both beautiful and very tasty! We had some Burrata with fresh tomatoes, and balsamic glaze Calamari which was tender but also crispy on the outside. Brussels Sprouts, they were incredibly tasty, they had some blue cheese crumbles, craisins and a hot honey drizzle! So tasty. For entrees; the Salmon entree was absolutely amazing! Grilled perfectly and had a nice seasoning on it.
The citrus dill sauce compliments the fish very well. The Lemon Shrimp Risotto is a beautiful dish! And the shrimp are cooked perfectly.
Risotto was full of flavor and paired well with the shrimp! Beef Brisjket comes in an au jus and a side of Mac n Cheese, it's a great portion and perfect if you are looking for some delicious leftovers! I loved the presentation on the espresso martini, it was layered And looked so pretty! Very tasty and not bitter at all. We did not have dessert, but they look to have some great options as well. I definitely recommend trying them out!
