Venturing into Old Town, we decided to dine at this much-talked-about restaurant, with expectations high for an authentic culinary experience.
Our party of six, each choosing different dishes, aimed to sample the breadth of their menu. The first encounter was with their ultimate margarita, anticipated to be a standout given Old Town's reputation.
Unfortunately, the drink was a letdown, overly sweet and lacking the robust liquor kick one would expect. My personal choice, the Combination Del Jefe, promised an exciting mix of tamale, steak, and enchilada.
The reality, however, was underwhelming.
The steak suffered from being overly chewy and salty, while the tamale was disappointingly dry and echoed the same saltiness.
The enchilada, though passable, didn't quite make up for the rest. The rest of the group found their meals to be satisfactory.
The saving grace of our dining experience was the chips and dips.
The salsa was notably fresh and flavorful, providing a pleasant end to our meal. While this restaurant has the potential to be a gem in Old Town, our experience was marred by a few culinary missteps.
The ambiance and location are promising, but improvements in the balance of flavors and drink quality are needed.

We got a very nice table right by the window with a great view of the old town.
Vegetarian options were limited.
We had veg enchilada and it was great.
Margaritas are served in small quantities as compared to other restaurants on the same street, but it was strong and tasty.
Service was really good.

We got the 3 taco meals and the 3 mini burritos to get a sample of everything.
The food was so satisfying to eat.
I traveled with kids and the staff were able to have the spicy sauce on the side.
The highlight is the salsa and chips, super crispy and a good size for dipping.
