Mary Lee & Mike's Soul Food

I’m here to give my honest opinion.
Please do not take it as I’m trying to bash the restaurant.
I have heard that some select dishes are better than others.
I can only give my opinion on what I tried.
I had a turkey wing as the entree, mac&cheese, collards and a roll.
The wing was supposed to be smothered but it appeared baked with a little gravy added on top.
It was tender and cooked thoroughly, not much flavor.
However, it was the best thing on the plate.
The Mac & Cheese was really not good.
It was kind of greasy and the cheese was curdled up.
The collards had a lot of stems.
The flavor was mostly sugar.
With an earthy flavor, almost like a dirt flavor.
I wanted to like it so bad.
Will I go there again? No, I will not personally go purchase from there.
Will I try different dishes if someone(like a friend or my kids) gets it for me or asks me to try theirs? Yes, I will try it.
But the food does not scream “Come Back” at all.
Food tore my stomach up. On a scale of 1-10; Turkey wings 5/10 Collards 2/10 Mac N Cheese 3/10 Roll 9/10

This place has some of the best soul food I have ever had, it is truly down home cooking.
And while the service is great, miscommunication between the front and back of house means things are constantly missed.
In picking up my To-Go orders, without fail something was always missing.
But the food is so good and at such a good price point, it wasn't enough to call back to drive out to complain about missing french fries. I still think about the food here, hundreds of miles away and excited to come back to Fayetteville JUST to eat here again. Pro-Tip: Make sure to check your to go orders. I came to this place for the first time and I really liked it.
Their chitterlings was amazing.
And this was the first “black” owned establishment that treated me with respect and an inviting experience.
I do recommend it if you are looking to support a black own business.shoot I recommend it if you want good food like home.
