Louisiana Creole Gumbo offers an intriguing dive into Creole culture right on Gratiot Ave in Detroit. This casual eatery combines the vibrancy of Cajun cuisine with comforting soul food in a trendy, historic setting. With a price range that won’t break the bank, it’s a family and LGBTQ-friendly place perfect for lunch or dinner. While many rave about its fast service and accessibility, some diners have expressed disappointment in flavor and consistency. Still, its inviting atmosphere and variety of vegan options may be worth exploring for those seeking a taste of the South.

September 20, 2024Stepping into Louisiana Creole Gumbo was like a nostalgic trip back to my time in the South! 🌟 The ambiance is casual and welcoming, perfect for families and students alike. I tried the Small Supreme Gumbo, and while the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark as I had hoped, the fast service from the staff was commendable.
The collard greens were a bit lacking in seasoning, and the cornbread could definitely use some love - dry and crumbly is not what you want. However, the gumbo had a comforting warmth to it, perfect for a rainy day.
With a little tweak to the recipes, this spot could shine. I’ll gladly return for
