Moved away years ago and still dream about this place.
So happy to be back to eat some of the best southern food I've ever had.
The catfish and chess pie are top notch.
You've gotta try them!

First time.
Not disappointed except too full to have dessert! Flap jack cornbread and green were the best! Recommend if you like REAL food.

Knowing it is a local family restaurant I didn’t care much about how it looked.
However when I got to the front to order I got a pork steak with gravy, sweet potatoes, and collard greens.
Total was almost $20 for one plate of food! I know local places have overhead and food cost, but they are pretty overpriced especially for the area! Now… down to the food: The pork was dry and had the texture of jerky! The gravy on the pork was the only saving grace for me.
The sweet potatoes were good, but the collards were veryyy salty.
Honest review is 2/5 stars.
Most likely won’t return which is unfortunate since I love supporting local restaurants.

We don't even sell collard greens! What ever you were eating you didn't know how it was supposed to taste! When you speak of area and overhead you really don't have a clue what it takes to run a business! Our Coke products and practically everything else cost us more to purchase than it cost a chain restaurant because they buy in bulk.
Our 941 tax and sales tax are the same when based on employee and sales ratio.
They are able to absorb better because of the breaks they get for buying in bulk at a lower price! You are prejudice and don't know it, not speaking of color! You insinuated since with our locality it should be cheaper.
That is ludicrous! We purposely chose that area.
Why? We needed a symbiotic atmosphere, meaning hiring people that live in the area that know and how to cook this type of food.
Also if put in a populous area some of our employees don't have transportation and wouldn't be able to commute.
As far as the pork steak it's our number one seller.
I am curious did you get the pork steak Our the country fried steak since you couldn't differentiate in the collard greens that we don't sell.
Maybe you need to stay in your lane and frequent the restaurants that cook with microwave ovens or pre cooked meals that are shipped in! I would not have went in so hard on you if you would have given constructive criticism instead of giving a prejudice review! Good Day!
