Due to a leg injury, I wasn’t as mobile as I usually am, so I decided to stay close to the hotel. That meant dining in the hotel restaurant instead of taking a taxi to restaurants.I thought, “Why take a taxi to a restaurant without knowing that the ‘outside’ restaurant will serve an appreciably better meal?” My first test of this theory — the gnocchi in a lamb ragout — earned the hotel an “A” grade.I kept thinking as I savored the lamb ragout, “if I was eating this by candlelight at a white tablecloth restaurant, with heavy silverware, I would be in heaven.” Atmospherics trick your mind. But the taste proves the point. For the next meal, I ordered the gnocchi again.I admit that I wasn’t blown away as I was the first time, but by then I had ratcheted up my expectations. For the third meal, I went with the Caesar salad with chicken.Although passable, ordering this dish was a mistake.I should have paid the extra 10 euros for a secondo.Lesson learned.Service is good.Special shout out to the floor manager Tiziano who keeps a sharp eye on everything. He’s like an army sergeant who keeps everything in fine order. The hotel seems to cater to a business clientele (tourists wouldn’t stay so far from city center).Business clients like crisp, efficient service and good food, not the crap you find across the street from the ancient sites near the Forum. If you find yourself in Ibis Styles Euro, this is a good dining option — absent much atmosphere. But you’re not there for the atmosphere. And you’ve saved 50 euros in taxi fares when all you wanted was a decent carbonara.
The host Gemma is great and the food too.
ottimo posto all'interno dell'hotel.il cibo era molto buono! prosciutto e melone, carbonara cacio e pepe e branzino perfetti! il servizio è stato molto buono!
