After going through the plethora of restaurants in the downtown Detroit area, I decided to venture into Greektown and Golden Fleece Restaurant (owing to my love of Greek mythology). Having spent a few days in Larnaca and also growing up in a country with a large Hellenic community, I had a high but realistic expectation of what was to come. The young lady (Pauline) took a moment to attend to me as she was with a customer.I was seated by the bar area and was able to appreciate the restaurant decor (and it is very charming). After exploring the appetizer options, I settled on the halloumi per Jose's (my server) recommendation and it did not disappoint. Not only was the dish aesthetically presented, it also tasted fabulous. For the entree I opted for the combo (lamb gyro and chicken kebab with fries) after having seen a photo online. This is where things went a little south for me. The chicken kebab was tender and moist but lacked any real flavor. The gyro was just okay in all honesty even though it was soft. The tzatziki tasted like what I could buy at Costco. The fries weren't too bad being fresh cut.The dish as a whole fell short because aside from the kebab, everything else was lukewarm or on the cold side. Service - just okay.I was observing Pauline and the other waiter checking on tables and offering service with a smile.Jose checked on me once after the appetizer and that was it. What also annoyed me was adding a 20% gratuity without my consent. You don't tip yourself; the customer tips based on your service. Will I come back again? I'd like to but I am hesitant and to echo the reviews of others, this establishment needs to work on their service. Next time I am in Detroit I intend to try other Greek restaurants for comparison and review. In light of the above, I go with 3 stars and I am being a little generous.
I recently dined at the Greek restaurant, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience that unquestionably deserves a solid five-star rating. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The ambiance was delightful, with a charming Mediterranean decor that transported me to Greece.Soft, traditional music playing in the background added to the overall atmosphere, making it a memorable dining experience. The service was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to guide us through the menu. They made excellent recommendations, ensuring we tried a variety of authentic Greek dishes that left our taste buds dancing with joy. But what truly set this restaurant apart was the food. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece.Every bite was a burst of Mediterranean flavors, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident in every dish. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service received. It was a dining experience that offered excellent value for money. In conclusion, this Greek restaurant is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it receives. If you're looking for an authentic Greek dining experience with exceptional service, delectable food, and a wonderful ambiance, look no further.I wholeheartedly recommend this place and will definitely be returning for another culinary journey.Five stars all the way!

This means a lot to us more than you can imagine !! Thank you for the kind sincere words! Please ask for spero or Yanni on your next visit !
I went specifically for a gyro sandwich. Thankfully, there was a fairly good lunch special $16 for gyro sandwich, salad (or soup) and a pop. The Gyro has more lamb than any other gyroeat I've ever had. It's not your typical coney gyro. What I really didn't like is that they chared the pita. I can't stand char so this forced me to deconstruct the sandwich. To that point, the amount if gyro meat was pretty amazing. Guessing enough meat for 3 ordinary sandwiches. It's good but be prepared for a different tasting gyro than your used to.
