As an out of towner, it can be hard to land in locally loved spots that aren’t super high end.El Chullo is a total gem- the food is wonderfully fresh, well seasoned, and perfectly prepared.I got fried fish as a lunch special and was blown away by the value for the amount of food- generous, just like the staff.My server Caréna was warm, knowledgeable, and patient as I decided what to order from many good options.I recommend this place for a solo traveler looking to sip coffee and enjoy lunch, for an anyone getting a quick meal with friends, and for families, as the environment was well suited to small diners.I would definitely return on another trip to Phoenix!
Hunger crept up on us after visiting two museums today.After we finished the Heard Museum I searched for nearby restaurants and immediately spotted this genuine Peruvian cuisine.The artwork on the walls was also very interesting. Our entrées were great, and they used some very interesting spices that made our food taste very exotic. Of course we finished our dinner with desert.I don’t know their exact names, but my wife had a flan and I chose ice cream made with a Peruvian fruit. This place was a fantastic change after having nothing but Mexican cuisine (which we really love).Stop by and tell them that Bob & Natalie sent you.Enjoy!
Amazing food and service! Coming from NYC and living in LA, this has been one of my favorites hands down! My friends and I had the shrimp ceviche and lomo saltado which were super flavorful! I truly wish LA had a spot like this.For dessert, we had the alfajor and the lucuma ice cream- bomb! The service was great as well.I can’t wait to come back to this spot! Dreaming about it until then!
