Wonderful Peruvian dishes, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere make for a really enjoyable dining experience. We had an early dinner here so it wasn't busy at all.Our server seemed preoccupied at times getting ready for what appeared to be a very large party that evening, but others helped out and made sure we always had what we needed. The anticuchos was very tender and flavorful (the chef recommended medium, which was perfect, but medium rare seems it would also be good). The pulpo a la parrilla (octopus) was very tender, grilled to perfection. The classic ceviche (we ordered hot (spicy)) was excellent and had perfect balanced spice. For dessert we enjoyed the crema volteada, which is like a more dense version of flan. The real whipped cream on the side was perfect.
We live a block away and have been meaning to try this place out pretty much since it opened.Glad we did.The food was exquisite.Everything we had was delicious.Tender octopus, delicious sauces, and tasty desserts.Sad we waited so long cause we are moving to North Phoenix in a couple months. But we are DEFINITELY coming back!
I had higher hopes for this new Melrose option, but wasn't blown away by the entrees. The seafood medley with noodles was a bit flat on flavor with overcooked shellfish.I'll give them another try but it was just ok. The ceviche sampler was outstanding however. They have a varied cocktail menu but the bar presents as primarily tequila. This gave me pause for ordering anything without tequila in it.I had an over brewed iced tea instead.I think they have the ability to succeed, and are capable.
