Dandelion Cafe at Rice University marries casual dining with vibrant university spirit. Located in the sleek Ralph S. O’Connor Building, this women- and Black-owned coffee shop offers a cozy retreat for students and faculty alike. Their menu features customizable options, with highlights including the fried chicken club and portobello sandwich—both praised for their flavor. While the coffee is still being refined, friendly service and a laid-back atmosphere make it a worthy stop for breakfast or lunch on campus.

The Dandelion cafe is located inside the O’Connor Building for Engineering and Science at Rice University. They’re closed on the weekends because most customers are students, faculty, and university staff.I have come here multiple times, sometimes just to work.As a visitor, the best place to park would be Founder’s Court (search Google for Rice University campus map) with a few minute walk.Quite honestly, I don’t find Dandelion coffee great (I recommend CoffeeHouse or Audrey’s, also on campus, instead).Dandelion is still developing their menu, so there are other types of drinks that could be worth trying! The prices are a bit high, but the food is good! My pictures give a pretty good representation of what the place looks like at noon (busiest). If you’re visiting Rice University, definitely come see Dandelion and the new, beautiful building it is within (there is art to see).
Great spot to get food on campus. The service is always friendly and fast. The food honestly surpassed my expectations and I’d recommend people try the “fried chicken club”.The drinks could definitely use some work but since they’re still relatively new I imagine they’re workshopping them.Since their menu is a tad on the pricier end, I’d stick with the food here.
You can customize the item, like adding blueberry, advocado, mint syrup in the tea, etc. Then amazing lunch will be created just for you~
