Located at the foot of Mt Tabor, is this quaint bottle shop/market/coffee shop. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.I tried the Italian hazelnut milk chocolate Guido gobino and seasalt olive oil hazelnut milk chocolates with a cup of delicious Americano.Delicious! Great wine selection, olive oils and balsamic vinegars, amongst hundreds of other tasty delights.
I've been in Portland for 10 years, and Coquine has been on my radar for a while now.I was so excited when my friend made reservations (about a month in advance).I absolutely love the location near Mt.Tabor.It's really special, sitting there on its own with the market right next to it.I parked right in front of the restaurant. We were seated next to the window, and it ambience was lovely.I think you can get away wearing what you want, but dressing up is 100% appropriate.Food is clean, beautiful, and simple in a good way.We started with the trout roe and bread, and that was great. It was a fun, enjoyable start - you make your toast by putting your own toppings on.I got the 1/2 chicken, and thought it was cooked perfectly.I also got about 2 full meals out of it, so I'd say pricing was good.I loved when the server poured the carrot soup into my friend's bowl at the table.Shout out to the bus boy who folded my napkin and sat it down next to me as I came back from the bathroom.Clearly everyone pays close attention to what is going on.This is a Portland must.I'd say it pretty much embraces Portland dining at it's best.
