Black Bear Diner Palmdale

I only wish this company acknowledged gluten issues and provided some sort of bread gluten free.
Pancakes, English muffin, or a slice of bread would be nice.
But they do trade out for hash browns if you need which is nice.
My go to, California eggs Benedict over hash browns.
(Hash browns, then meat, then egg, topped with hollandaise).
The amount is good for the price and the flavor is amazing! We like to come once a month or 2.
Great servers, but they seem to always be under staffed.
Big high five to the busser, he steps up and helps out and is super sweet!

My husband and I really like our favorite restaurant and our waitress Kat is wonderful! We delivered to the first Black bear diner in Shasta so it’s nice to be able to visit here in Palmdale for some yummy sweet cream pancakes!

I just recently discovered Black Bear diner and found several things on the menu I wanted to try so I've been back five times in the last couple weeks.
I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but after multiple times I find the restaurant very mid.
First off, it's always understaffed.
Always.
I think they do a great job with their chicken strips, some of the better ones out there.
I enjoyed the pot roast pretty well, and the tri-tip was OK.
The meatloaf was pretty decent as well.
I found the mac & cheese very bland.
Tonight I decided to try the ribs and I was so underwhelmed.
They weren't cooked in a barbecue sauce or basted as they cooked, they came out plain with some barbecue sauce poured on the top.
When I had biscuits and gravy the biscuits were clearly from the day before and quite hard and there was nary a trace of meat in the gravy.
My guess is that the brown gravy comes from a can.
I'm really glad I didn't try the prime rib.
Last but not least, the prices are pretty darn high.
Overall I liked the concept of home-cooked style meals, but they miss the mark too often and are too understaffed to rate anything more than three stars
