Beautiful little restaurant.
The owners were so nice and friendly.
The food was outstanding.

Betelu is arguably one of the best restaurants in Madrid.
Not for the decoration - it is understated and homely.
One could walk past the place and not even notice.
Nor for the location - it is a lower middle-class residential area, ten minutes' walk from the Ventas bullring, and out of the tourist spots.
It is simply one of the best restaurants in Madrid for the food and service.
Owned by a Navarrese family and named after their home town in Navarre, this restaurant serves home-cooked style honest dishes made with the very highest quality ingredients, hand picked by the father of the family who is now in his 80s and continues working, because this restaurant is his passion.
Book in advance because the place is almost always full.
I have been a customer at Betelu for over 20 years, and because it has never changed management, the quality has been consistently of the very highest standard.
The only problem is that I'm the same age as the youngest members of the family, so I can't look forward to eating here well into my retirement!
