This is the first time experiencing Austins on Center in Omaha, NE. First off the service is outstanding. My waiter Nathen did a superb job not only being attentive, but he had a great personality that matched the laid-back atmosphere of the establishment.Nathen told me that he typically works the lunch hours so be sure to ask for him specifically! On to the food! I had the chicken fried steak, and my lunch date had the steak St.James.The chicken fried steak was crisp and cooked to perfection. It comes with mashed potatoes and your choice of pepper gravy, or brown gravy.I chose pepper gravy and have no regrets. The steak St James was delicious as well, but my lunch date said she was not impressed with the serving dish because it has divots in the bottom of the dish that the gravy gets trapped in. The atmosphere is very laid back, amazing service, and great food.Definitely in the top 20 of my favorites in this area.
My wife, daughter, grandson, and myself went there on my birthday, Saturday April 30, 2022.I was really excited to go.The staff was amazing and very attentive to our table. For what we ordered I felt the price was very good, we got a good bang for our buck.We had 3 steaks, 3 appitizers, and two of us had shrimp added to our meals, one was broiled, and mine was breaded shrimp. We had a reservation and was seated as soon as we walked in.I thought the place wasn't very busy, but by the time we were left it was packed. The food was good and plentiful. The reason I am only doing 4 stars, is although the food was very good, it lacked seasoning, my mom always use to say a little salt goes a long way.The fried potato skins was an example, the meat they use on it had no flavor which took away from the dish. The breading on the fried pickles, Jalepeno poppers and my fried shrimp add on also tasted like no salt was used, they really need to look at the breading mixture as well as the meat mixture and see if more salt is required to make those items better. My wife also said when she took her first bite of her steak it lacked salt, but when she added some from the shaker it was really good.I realize the thought may be, then add salt, but flavor comes out so much more balanced when the seasoning is added prior to cooking.I will give high praise to the cook staff, my wife ordered her steak well done, I always cringe when she does that, as steak gets tougher with the more you cook it.My wife was still able to slice it with a butter knife, that is really hard to do.Mine was cooked to the perfect medium well and was very tender. We will be back, as we enjoyed our visit.
The food was just ok we liked the raspberry sauce for the jalapeño bites had to pay extra to have a salad with my steak , the waiter was very good and he made a point of telling us all the meat , steaks was cut in house but when we tried to order 45 ounce porter house they said oh we are out of that come on it was 3:30 pm we was the only people in there ! I think they lied for some reason idk…… it was our anniversary so not a very good meal disappointed to drive clear across town for this ! They did not have margaritas on the list said they could make one but not blended no blended frozen drinks they don’t have a blender, and ordered buttered mushrooms for the steak and they had some sticky stringy cheese in them who does that wow and they had these sugar biscuits we got they was hard and taste like a cookie maybe but real hard loaded mashed potatoes was not good steaks was tough I do not recommend
