Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Cafe has been serving simple, healthy food for more than 20 years.Every time I come to Albuquerque, I make sure to pay a visit.Whether you be vegetarian or vegan, it is impossible to starve here. And if you are carnivore, you will surely find plenty to your liking. On my recent visit with a buddy of mine, I ordered the South Indian Sampler, while he went with the house-made veggie burger. My plate included a masala dosa, a couple of vadais, and a cup of sambhar.A delicious coconut chutney was included for dipping or spreading, and man was it all good. While south Indian dishes are generally much spicier than what one finds in the north of India, all of my items were very mild in flavor and demeanor. My friend’s veggie burger was equally top-shelf, a far cry better than the frozen and boxed hockey pucks we find in groceries and at chain restaurants. It was made of lentils, black beans, veggies, and spices, and is completely vegan. It all comes tucked into a gluten-free bun, and with the usual accompanying items, like tomatoes and lettuce.A huge serving of fries proved impossible to finish, even after he gladly shared a copious amount with me. Annapurna is the Hindu goddess of nourishment, and her namesake restaurant does just that in a very nutritious way, and in a very understated and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant appeared as background in S3Ep11 of Breaking Bad, after Jesse, Skinny Pete, and Badger attend a 12-step meeting at the church across the street, so you may just recognize it. Now get to it.No regrets here.

Ok....long review here.....Looking for a vegan or vegetarian place we choose this location at Annapurna World Vegetarian Cafe on Yale/Silver for the variety of choices. Knowing the Balloon Fiesta was in town, a little surprised they were understaffed.Orders were not completed, was missing our coffee & cappuccino. They did end up bringing it to us though. I ordered the portabella mushroom burger with masala fries and garlic dipping sauce. My mates ordered breakfast burrito (with an extra 😮 surprise?) & ABLT & ginger carrot soup (which was the soup of the day). Let's start with the mushroom burger.Did they decide 🤔 to use a Baby Bella instead of portabella? If you look at pics you can see how SMALL that portabella really is! I took 1st bite and the bread started to break into three parts, no mushroom.I held tightly to what was left of the buns falling apart and took 4 more bites of nothing but bread and spinach.I literally ate half the burger BREAD before I got to the mushroom! Masala fries and garlic sauce nothing to write about, was fine.If the mushroom is THAT small they should've used TWO mushrooms! I KNOW they shrink, but for the price you pay you need a bigger mushroom and definitely a better bun! Ok now the breakfast burrito, was not bad, but a little underseasoned from a local NON-Vegetarian NM resident! Unfortunately, my mate must've 😕 bit the wrong way or had a surprise bite, but actually broke a filling off his tooth! So the price for his meal just quadrupled! And lastly, the ABLT was not only good portion for the price but for a vegetarian meal was not only good, but filling.Plus, having the soup was a bonus to the meal, it was just good.
Visiting here with my bff.I liked my pad Thai - very different from others I've had.It was incredibly spicy though and not enough water was provided. No water on the tables so I needed to go back up the counter and have them come out to give more water. They forgot about the tea I ordered and I didn't get it until I was leaving. Also my friend ordered the "avocado" veggie bacon, lettuce, tomato wrap and when the wrap got delivered to the table the staff said they didn't have avocado ...Is that okay? My friend said well I guess it's already made.....🧐 Food was good.Could have been a better experience though.
