ORDER TO GO, DO NOT EAT IN!! Came to Willie Mae's to celebrate my best friend's birthday since this is one of the few places in LA for Louisiana food. I really wish we had never stepped foot in this place. Right from walking in, it smelled like Bourbon street but not in the good fresh seafood boil way.
It was obvious cleanliness was lacking but as they only had one chef and one waitress I figured sometimes it's hard to clean throughout the day. We were seated by the waitress with braces and told she would come back with water and to take our order.
70 minutes passed before she came back to take our order only after 2 repeated attempts to stand up and ASK for service. We then placed an order that never came.
That's right, we sat for 2 hours and 15 minutes only for them to continually tell us that food would be out in 10 minutes and then disappear for another extended period of time.
The chef even came out to tell us that fresh chicken was going to be coming out.
They explained that the wait was because of so many catering orders.
I would've understood this but every other table that came in got service, food, and their check.
It wasn't even BUSY!

Wheww this place Fire.
Some of the best gumbo I ever had.
This was the taste of New Orleans truly.
The fried chicken was scrumptious.
The gumbo was the best thing of the house truly I could eat just that.
The cornbread was soft and fluffy the red beans full of flavor and some great Mac.
This is not a place to miss.
Eat here get full and be happy

Highly recommend! This our second time coming here and the food is incredible!! The fried chicken is the most flavorful juicy chicken!! I recommend any of the sides- my personal favorite is the Mac and cheese.
I recommend trying their house made honey mustard! They also serve spirits now.
