Good food at reasonable prices.
Staff is friendly.
Occasionally coffee or soup is not as hot as it could be but they take of it.
Portions are good value for sure.
Pancakes are amazing.
Have been going to Velvet Grill on Dale Road for years.
My favorite breakfast place in Modesto.

It's not that the velvet grill isn't great.
They are.
But, when I go to a greasy spoon, I like cheap, good food fast.
My Garden Cafe is the best example I've had in the Modesto area of what I mean.
Nothing fancy, just good home cooked meals delivered fast and hot.
The Velvet Grill is stuck between that and a place like Cahoots in Oakdale, where the food is a bit fancier and the prices reflect that.
The Velvet Grill is good food, don't get me wrong.
It's satisfying, the staff is friendly, atmosphere, what you would expect.
You will leave full.
But if you want the best in this realm, try the other places first.

This place deserves a 6 star rating. Excellent Excellent service by all staff. Manager "Rachael"was too good in service. Food was excellent. All the staff were continuously checking if you needed anything more like "More Coffee". I can't run this place better even if was my own business. Highly recommend to try it out...
