We rarely are near downtown when we are ready for a meal. We have heard good things about this place from a few friends. So we decided to try today. There was a moldy musty smell. It triggered my allergies and my wife's. Besides that, most people occupied the booths, but they did have high top tables too. We got excellent service from the owner himself. I hope that doesn't mean he is having trouble with the business. The food was excellent. I had the Reuben. He said they sell allot of them. I am a sucker for trying them any place I go. This was awesome. You could tell the meat was fresh and the kraut was fresh too.The owner said they make the Thousand Island dressing fresh in house. The bread was a toasted marble rye. Yummy. In the picture half the sandwich is gone.I would come back for this alone, but some much looked good. The wife had a pork tenderloin sandwich. They make them from scratch off course. It was larger than the bun, but not super large like some places. It was much thicker than most so you actually got flavor from the pork.In the picture she cut off much of the over flow from the bun. She had a bag of chips. I tried the Parm fries. Those were yummy. I got a side of Vader sauce to dip them in. The Vader sauce is used on many dishes. It is like a fry sauce made of ketchup and mayo with mild spice. So you get tiny bit of heat. Yummy again. We also had the potato balls as an appetizer. They were scooped out baked potatoes with some sour cream and bacon mixed in then rolled up and fried. They were amazing. You get 6 and it is more than enough. We had beer 🍺🍻 the boulevard beers they had on draft hit the spot. Boulevard wheat and Irish as I said, we now will go out of our way to eat at this place. We are so glad we tried it.
Super sad! They are CLOSED!!!! 😔 What a huge loss - Amazing experience! Thank you Vader's for the Best GLUTEN free friend chicken sandwich ever! This is gluten free heaven, practically everything but the tortillas can be done Gluten free! Run don't walk, don't wait cause it's so awesome, you can't tell it's GF!!! Oh and even gluten free beer!!!! It was wonderful for our celiac daughter to have yummy bar food available!!!! Again, thank you and mahalo Vader's!!!! You Rock!
Oh man! We have been waiting to try Vader's for quite some time now, so we decided to pop in while waiting for the kids to be done with a homecoming dance. We walked in the back door and immediately a horrible, musty smell smacked us in the face. It's hard to put into words the actual smell. It was like walking into an old building that had standing water in it for months. It was hard to breathe and I was just plain miserable, but we walked in and we were committed to the mission.Staying was a mistake for sure. After sitting at the bar for about ten minutes, the bartender finally approached so we ordered two pints of Yuengling.During our wait for the bartender we looked online at the food menu, we were not offered one and we thought about getting a bite to eat. After looking online, we decided that "bar food" didn't sound good, nor did we trust eating anything from the establishment. After putting my phone down for menu-viewing, I took two drinks and couldn't do it.The beer tasted horrible, like a chemical substance so I walked to my car to grab a mint, returned inside and asked my spouse if we could just pay and leave. The walls and bar area are filled with cool memorabilia, pictures, lights, and signs. Our favorite was a small statue of a gentleman smoking a cigar. While walking out I made the mistake of looking in the kitchen.I couldn't help but take a picture (the door was wide open), literally the monstrosity of a kitchen couldn't possibly produce anything we would want to put in our bodies.Kitchen pics attached to this post, as well as the buckets on a table and in a high chair collecting water dripping from the ceilings. We will stick with Austin’s for sure!!! *NOTE: my reviews are balanced.I leave positive AND negative reviews, I try as hard as possible to point out positives whenever possible.
