The ambiance is great, but this place feels overrated. The smallest portion of salmon for $32?? The glaze was delicious, but the overabundant fishy smell and taste was off-putting.The meal was saved by the whipped ricotta appetizer! Hard to mess up cheese and bread 😅 TLDR: They're heavy on appearance, less so on substance.
Rustic New England elegance in a cozy and romantic dim light setting with old world style tufted leather furniture, two fireplaces and a seasonal rotating menu (for people who love an establishment but enjoy different options) which is absolutely amazing!!!! I’ve been here twice in two months. My first experience blew me away, it doesn’t feel like you’re going to just any restaurant, it was an entire great experience. There was live music and soft songs like “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young being played that really contributed to my first time here with making it a perfect evening. For cocktails, I had the Spiced Pear Blossom (gin) and The Root Issue (Bourbon) both were delicious.I tried the seafood risotto which was a good portion, filling and good. The Harvest Bisque soup was savory.I was excited for the Arugula Salad because the ingredients sound delicious but there barely any toppings. My second visit here I ordered the Grain Salad and it was loaded with toppings, so pleasing and satisfied with this choice.I selected the Fried Chicken with an Apricot Jalapeño glaze and it was delicious but I would’ve actually liked to taste more spice in the heat of the jalapeño finding it to be more sweet than an equal balance.Overall my entree was plated presentation perfect served over mashed potatoes with brussels. There are two seating areas, a smaller dining space and the more spacious room for larger parties that is more spread out with high ceilings. The service both times was excellent.Shana was suggestive and familiar with the menu items, was friendly and had a great personality. The restaurant being so beautiful, a rotating menu (can’t wait to try spring) and creative food components are exactly what I search for when dining out.Definitely check out The Farm Table.
I wish I could give 4 and 3/4 stars. The foodie in me noticed a few things, but overall the food was great. The sweet pea cocktail was just ok.The fried chicken was amazing and the cornbread appetizer was good but very heavy.Over-beaten, likely, but a tasty concept with the garlic sauce.Atmosphere can’t be beat and for small town Bernardston, this is a treasure.Bar opens at 4, dinner starts at 5.And boy does the place flood at 5! Definitely worth your trip.Pick a sunny day, sit outside and enjoy the gardens and a craft beer.
