Tonight’s video is from having a little time on my hands in the Bethlehem area and deciding to pop in to Sizzling Bites Halal Grill. I had heard that the owner of this spot is related to the owner of Flaming Hot Halal in some way which made me nervous. A lot of people really talked up Flaming Hot and while I thought it was pretty good, I didn’t think it was anywhere near the pedestal that everyone put it on. This place was pretty large and very clean, I appreciate the cleanliness and having seating. Decided to go with the mix grill (lamb and chicken) and since I got a very small amount of white sauce at the other spot I asked for a side of it as well. I definitely without a doubt prefer Sizzling Bites. There was more meat, it was more flavorful and juicy, the rice tasted nearly identical, and the people were far friendlier here. The chicken and lamb both had great flavor and I even enjoyed the salad with the white sauce on it. If you’re big on fries with these platters you’ll probably like them, but I could take or leave them myself…I’ve never cared for fries on a halal platter. This is one I’ll definitely re-visit. Sizzling Bites Halal Grill - Didn’t Suck!
There’s a ton of hype building up over Sizzling Bites Halal and last night I got to see why firsthand. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and genuinely cared about how we wanted orders crafted. They showed patience as we asked a ton of questions, which we appreciated. The food was WONDERFUL! We got the Mixed platter, Chicken over Fries, and Chicken Tender Loaded Fries. So many delicious flavors! And the Mango Lemonade was AMAZING! The owner came out to ensure we were satisfied with the quality of the food, and even gave my son a complimentary baklava, which was also delicious. Sizzling Bites is a welcomed addition to South Side eats, and I HIGHLY recommend everyone stop by soon.
Sizzling Bites serves up some tasty food overall, though I’d recommend going for a platter to get the best variety. My salad wasn’t as fresh as I’d hoped, and the chicken sandwich didn’t quite hit the mark for me, but the meal was still enjoyable. The place itself is very spacious, making it ideal for dining out with friends and family.
