Im here in Richmond for a job I've been on the road for a month....all I wanted was some good food to eat! Queens was recommended so before headed back to the hotel I stopped there spent 30$ got the stewed chicken and oxtail combo! The oxtail and chicken was seasoned really well very flavorful!! But they both were very dry I was disappointed in that didn't like it at all had to force myself to eat it because I paid 30$ and was at the hotel already! The cabbage rice and peas were good!
This was my first experience at Queen's.As the other reviews mention, don't bother calling about anything because they don't answer the phone. If they answered the phone, I would have known before I drove 20 minutes that they were out of plantain, and mac and cheese, and rum cake. But, hey, not the end of the world. The flavor of my rice and beans was very good, and the cabbage was on point. The flavor of the brown stew chicken was very good too. However, I have eaten Jamaican food all over the US and in Jamaica, and I have never ever gotten brown stew chicken that was just dry pieces of chicken on rice with NO GRAVY.I mean, there was not a drop of gravy on that chicken and rice! I was stunned! Good thing it was flavorful. The beef patties were mediocre. And the biggest fail was that after they didn't have rum cake, I settled on chocolate...then the girl forgot it!!! I live 20 minutes away, and had stopped at the store before I got home and discovered it was missing.I would have called to tell them and ask them to credit me, but- that's right, they don't answer the phone.
One-star for the young lady working the front. She was very pleasant when taking the order and when I returned the food.One-star for the food being ready promptly considering the amount of food ordered. However, I was unable to enjoy my food due to the hair found in it🤢! They were unable to replace it, so I was issued a refund. Everything needed more sauce: the curry, oxtail, stew, and pepper steak. The beef patty was not meaty at all.I spent about $90, and it wasn't worth it.The probability of my returning is zero.
