I have a very disappointed experience in this restaurant, despite we have put it into our bucket list a long time ago before the trip. We were the very first customers of the day in the restaurant during lunch time.
I was quite attracted by the 12 Euro lunch as mentioned by many commenters.
But sadly, the owner didn't let us have the lunch menu.
Instead, we received the grand menu at a higher price.
At first, we thought the lunch menu was cancelled, but clearly not after we saw the local Italians order the lunch with the lunch menu handed to them by the staff. Besides, we ordered a stewed “beef“ (as it appeared in the English menu) but what served was stewed pork (by its taste and texture).
We had a translated conversation, but the issue could not be resolved.
The staff took away the dish and we weren't asked to pay for that dish. To be fair the atmosphere is nice but we were disappointed by the way we were served during the meal.
The spaghetti and pasta were also up to standard.
I believe we would have enjoyed a lot more if we ordered the lunch menu (with bread basket, starter, 1st and 2nd dishes with water) at 12 Euro.
We finally paid 22 Euro for only two 1st dishes, with a large beer. Not recommended for tourists who are not good at Italian.

Probably one of the best hidden gems that we stumbled upon in Rome.
The food is absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes could be improved slightly, but the taste and quality of the ingredients make up for this.
The staff made us feel at home and we had a delightful dinner. Starting off with a salad, the chicken cacciatore, cicoria and a tiramisu. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area and in the mood for a cozy homey meal.

I edit my review after restaurant owner gave detail reply to my negative feedback and I raise to 4 stars.
I like that owner take care about reviews and try to respond.
But I simply do not believe that this quite little jar is 1 liter, sorry.

lei dice che il cibo era buono ed il ristorante molto carino.
poi però aggiunge che vi abbiamo portato MENO di un litro di vino basandosi sul fatto che la brocca le sembrava piccola...ma quella brocca contiene ESATTAMENTE un litro di vino! è la brocca da un litro che il nostro fornitore ci regala insieme al vino che ordiniamo.
Avrebbe potuto semplicemente CHIEDERE DEI CHIARIMENTI alla cameriera e le avremmo dimostrato che quella brocca contiene un litro di vino! Invece ha preferito stare zitto e assegnare un feedback negativo basato sulle sue sole supposizioni personali...ed i feedback negativi basati sul nulla, come questo, rovinano l'immagine di una onesta trattoria aperta da 35 anni a Roma! Se la cameriera mangiava qualcosa preso all'esterno , questo accade OVVIAMENTE perchè dopo anni passati a lavorare nello stesso posto, può essere piacevole , ogni tanto, cenare con qualcosa di diverso dai piatti del menù del ristorante dove lavori, sembra chiaro! you say that the food was good and the restaurant was very nice.
then you say that we brought you LESS than a liter of wine based on the fact that the jug seemed small to you...
but that jug contains EXACTLY one liter of wine! it is the one-litre jug that our supplier gives us together with the wine we order.
You should have simply ASKED the waitress for CLARIFICATION and we would have shown you that that jug contains a liter of wine.
Instead you chose to stay silent and assign negative feedback based solely on your personal assumptions.
If the waitress ate something taken outside, this OBVIOUSLY happens because after years of working in the same place, it can be pleasant to dine with something different from the dishes on the menu of the restaurant where you work. KEEP YOUR PERSONAL ASSUMPTIONS TO YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT ABSOLUTELY SURE OF WHAT YOU WRITE IN THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS PLEASE!!!
