Went there after a longggg walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and post visiting the Transit Museum.Perfect place for catching a late-ish lunch and a beer to go with.. Had the fish and chips with shoestring fries while my husband went for the O'keefes Burger..we loved everything and more importantly the old rock music playing vibe.Special thanks to Jane who served us.
My experience here was HORRIBLE! As a mid thirties black woman, there was a tall 6 foot white man who was one of the bartenders, who totally acted racist towards me as if I didn’t belong there. He made my drink, barely even acknowledged me.The bar was completely busy and the drink (margarita) was disgusting, so when talking to the waitress at our table, she told me I can take it back especially because it was still full because I barely drunk anything.Every time I tried to get this 6 foot tall white man’s attention he kept walking past me acting as if he didn’t know I was trying to get his attention. So one of the times I kinda did I wave with my fingers to get his attention, he turn to me and said that was rude.I was confused and said “who me?” He said yea and put his hand in my face basically an inch away from my nose acting like he was demonstrating.Only difference is, there’s no way I my fingers was able to stretch across the bar to reach his body, yet alone his face as a 5 foot woman to his 6 feet.So that was totally inappropriate and rude to actually put his big huge hands in my face as a WOMAN customer because I absolutely did NOT do that to him! I still apologized and said that wasn’t my intentions if you feel that way, I was just trying to get your attention for the longest and you seemed busy.He said “yea, well, what do u want?” I told him I wanted to switch my drink out for something else he said “uhm no, u can buy another drink.” I said yea but the waitress told me since I barely touched my drink I can switch it out for something else.He said “well I’ll have a talk with that waitress then” and walked away.Just totally rude, but just switched out my white friend drink 2 seconds before I asked, so the problem he had with me was very clear and obvious. The blatant different treatment from him between everyone else who skin color was white and mine which is black was obvious and he wanted it to be known.Don’t go here and if you do beware of the tall 6 foot white man bartender. He was the tallest one behind the bar so you can’t miss or confuse him with anyone else.
Fun place to be at as it has a nice atmosphere.Great for gathering with friends and/or coworkers after work on a Friday night or any night of the week. They even have a comedy show every Wednesday, which I haven't attended yet.I actually go after work for dinner on any given day as their menu is very selective, and every plate I've tasted, I've enjoyed. Two thumbs up 👍👍
