Tucked away in a nondescript strip mall on a busy street, this oddly named old fashioned sports bar looks like a small town relic from the 1970s.It’s a refreshing change from the manufactured sameness of today’s bars and restaurants. When my friend invited me to join him here for lunch I was worried that I’d have to endure a greasy burger and fries or some other fatty bar food. Wow, was I wrong! My hamburger was lean, tasty, and perfectly grilled medium rare.He said that his cheeseburger is always juicy and delicious.Burgers are served with a small bag of potato chips but we decided to share a mixed basket of fries and onion rings which were hot and crisp with just the right amount of salt, The serving was more than enough for two. They have a small selection of beers on tap and a few bottles to choose from.You order your food and drinks at the bar and they bring everything to your table.Service was prompt and efficient but could have been a little friendlier. New Jersey’s Restaurant is a genuine classic and seems to be a popular neighborhood hangout.I won’t make a special trip, but if I’m in the area I might go back for lunch.
This is one of those times where I’m not sure to keep this jewel a secret or share it to ensure it stays open. Cheesesteaks are on point! If you’ve never had one before, now is your chance. It’s kinda a dive so don’t let the atmo mess with you - the kitchen is clean and the cheesesteaks are really good.
