I loved this place so much I had to come back later that week.
Granted the reason I came back was to get my credit card that I had left there, but had I been hungry I would have gladly done a repeat of my dinner earlier in the week.
I was just passing through Milwaukee with a colleague and he found this place.
This is not just a culinary experience...
be prepared to be immersed in a Bavarian environment that includes wall mounted weapons used in actual battle (so we were told), ornate decor, and servers in authentic costumes.
Apparently this place has been in the family for 5 generations and I commend them for running the place in a manner that delights the customer.
The menu reminded me of my visits to Austria and Germany.
The portions were generous and my only disappointment was not having room for dessert (a rarity for me).

We stopped in for lunch.
It was busy the night before (New Year's Day) and we didn't have a reservation so we came back for lunch.
They don't have a separate lunch menu so we had a choice of ordering dinner or appetizers.
We were a little confused by the menu and needed to look up what's what.
The samplers were a good idea but despite the price are not twice the food which was a little confusing. The food we ordered was good.
Drinks were good.
The atmosphere was really cool with a lot of great decor. Overall we just felt like it was off though.
With no separate lunch menu and not understanding the food it was hard to figure out what to order.
The sampler was very expensive for the size.
We ordered a beer in a boot but it came in a stein instead.

My fiancé and I decided to make reservations here for our weekend getaway and were not disappointed! We are from out of town and this was the first time we have been here.
The entire experience was great, from the atmosphere to the food! We were seated at the same table JFK was, which was pretty cool.
We were seated basically as soon as we walked in for our scheduled time.
It did take about two hours start to finish.
So if you are in a rush keep that in mind when making reservations.
We didn’t have any plans and were just kind of going with the flow so it wasn’t a problem for us.
We got the Tour of Germany (pictured) and everything was incredible.
We didn’t get the extra sausages and we left with a to go box full! We will definitely be back.
This was definitely a place to experience, it was more than just the food.
The whole place had such a unique vibe.
