All 3 of us are formerly from Socal or LA to be exact so Mexican food as you know is expecting some high standards. As shown on my receipt, there was dishes of enchiladas del barrio & supremas. They said the sauces weren't spicy, it had little flavor but the description says "salsa" which we were expecting to be somewhat spicy, but I understand as the majority of Cincinnati is white & African Americans to very little of other ethnicities. The enchiladas had a generous amount of chicken stuffed inside, but of course you get to choose the option except for the enchiladas de barrio I think which is the top left dish. Each one had ground beef, chicken & a lot of cheese.Very good portions for what you pay. The other thing when looking for Mexican restaurants or Mexican food in general is pricing.Lots of well received & high rated places but prices are high with people paying $4 for a taco. This restaurant if I remember was about $3, which is still pricey. My favorite Mexican dish is mole de pollo.Mole was somewhat sweet although not spicy nor a lot of flavor in it.The rice was pretty well cooked, soft but somewhat of a crispy texture, again with a generous amount of chicken to go with it.The chips are brought out for free, not sure if it's bottomless but the salsa wasn't spicy, a small hint of sweet but again not much flavor. The burrito grande is a wet burrito, I took it to go as I didn't think I would finish it but turns out my dish didn't fill me.Filled with the typical burrito stuffing that gets eaten with a fork & knife. The salsas on it was the same as the enchiladas, not much flavor to it besides some sweetness. The place inside definitely reminds me of what a Mexican restaurant would look like, authentic with their styling & decorations. My server, Armando was always checking up on us, great service & asked if I wanted another drink of Coco Loco which I promptly declined as I was the driver. The drink didn't taste like alcohol or anything mixed, for a minute I thought maybe it was lemonade but I wouldn't know although I couldn't really taste it. I would definitely come back to this restaurant again to try the rest of the items, it's definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant, the experience is as close as I remember it to be despite the food lacking in some flavor which drops it 1 star. It's better than that "Nada" restaurant for sure.
Came in around 5pm on a Tuesday and it was empty.Sat at the bar. Comfortable chairs.Service was prompt and friendly.Atmosphere is colorful and bright and they play traditional Mexican music. They had a special for a bottle of Pacifico for $2.50.I also got a burrito plate for $13.Chips were warm and salsa wasn't too cold.Good experience, I'd come back.
Bueno? So, while we were seated promptly and had some really good chip and salsa our meal did take almost 45 minutes to arrive to us.Most of the meal did hit! We had 4 kids pizza, 1 chicken and steak fajita, 1 fajita salad and a mex sampler. The reason for the 3 star was due to the length of time waited and the chicken wing in the sampler not being cooked all the way.Nonetheless, I have not written them off, but I’ll try to come back on weekday and see the difference.
