Arrived around 7:45pm on a Monday evening, the restaurant had a few diners, but I was seated quickly.I ordered the Monday special which was meatloaf with two sides. The wait time was less than 10 minutes for my dinner to arrive. The meatloaf is a large piece covered with a sweet and tangy sauce, it has a certain flavor by itself but went well with the meatloaf. The plate was very satisfying, I couldn't find a weak spot on this dinner or experience. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The cooks were sending other diner's plates rather quickly too. This is an older Jim's but well worth the visit.
5-Stars!!! Our first venture to Jim's restaurant (Broadway & I410) left us thoroughly impressed, and it's easy to see why San Antonians consider it a local gem. This iconic diner, with its widespread presence across San Antonio, is celebrated for its straightforward yet delectable diner fare.We owe a debt of gratitude to our friends, native San Antonians, for introducing us to this culinary treasure. The coffee was quintessentially diner-style: robust, good, and served piping hot.Our waitress was the epitome of hospitality, exuding kindness and patience. The ambiance of Jim's, what I'd describe as 'diner quaint,' was utterly charming and contributed significantly to our experience. Our group's order was a delightful array of classic diner breakfasts, including the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with hash browns, perfectly cooked over medium eggs, and English muffins; several plates of Huevos Rancheros & Sausage complemented with biscuits and tortillas; uncomplicated yet satisfying eggs and bacon; and a scrumptious Ham and Cheese Omelet. Each dish was a testament to the authentic diner experience – perfectly prepared, served hot, and utterly delicious. The over-medium eggs, a particular highlight for me, were flawlessly executed, which is a rarity and highly appreciated. In summary, Jim's earns a well-deserved 5-star rating from us.It epitomizes the essence of a classic diner with its excellent service and exceptional food.We arrived with hearty appetites and left completely stuffed and satisfied.San Antonio is indeed lucky to have such a staple, and we can't wait to return.
If you're searching for a good meal and value for your dollar, try this place. They have good menu selections. The place has a 1960s decor, but don't let this fool you on whether the food or service is good. We recently visited for breakfast. We all had the senior option. All of our food was plentiful and tasty. I hope your experience is as good as ours. ======= 02/18/1024 We revisited this location today for breakfast at 8 am. We ordered the club sandwich and the senior pancake breakfast, which comes with 2 pancakes, an egg, and a choice of sausage patty or sausage link. We experienced the same great service this place is known for. We usually sit in Doris's section. The pancakes are filling, and overall, the food was good and tasty.I've added some pictures and hope that your experience is good as ours.
