We stumbled upon this place, and loved everything about it.The outside seating is shaded and cool, our server Jack was funny and entertaining, and the food was out of this world. My husbands’ “homesick” platter was big enough to share. And the roasted pork was probably the best food we’ve eaten all week. The duck fricassee was a little disappointing; it lacked the rich flavor of the other dishes. But overall, ten out of ten
We booked a table for two, hoping to enjoy some traditional German gastronomy. The food is fine, but the dishes are rather more simple than what I would have expected. The portions weren't too large. The meat is OK, overcooked with tons of butter to make it more tasty. Only based on the food, I would probably give the place four stars. But our experience here was quite bad.I did my best to communicate in my poor German, but thankfully there was a waiter that sort of understood English. Unfortunately, the waiter that served our table ignored us several times, left us waiting for quite some time and when we asked for some advice regarding the menu, the guy simply misled us.After being ignored for more than half an hour with our dishes empty on our table, when we finally managed to order dessert, the waiter informed us that the kitchen was already closed. It was very obvious to us that we weren't welcome in that place and we sincerely regretted ever choosing it for our dinner. The place has some excellent reviews and several food blogs recommend it.But when it comes to sharing dinner with someone, food is not the only thing that matters.
Such a contrast between the “biergarten” and “restaurant” area. The garden part is comfortable and beautiful, the service is always super lovely and the rotisserie chicken is absolutely delicious and perfect to have with your beer. On the other side, the service in the restaurant couldn’t be worse.I’ve come here a million times and the waiters have always been rude, stuck up and snobbish. Sometimes they don’t even acknowledge you exist. They apparently don’t like if you’re not German and under 50 years old.Funny attitude for a place in the heart of Fhain.
