Golden Chicken Inn is a delightful gem in Oxnard! 🍽️ The cozy ambiance makes it perfect for a casual dinner. I tried their Kung Pao Chicken and was blown away by the perfect blend of spice and flavor.

The fast service was impressive, and the tea selection elevated the meal to another level. 🍵

It’s family-friendly, with options for kids and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Plus, the free parking is a bonus! A great spot for a quick bite or a leisurely meal... Can't wait to come back for more!

I feel absolutely cheated.
The picture shows this big plate filled to the brim with BBQ for the "big" BBQ mix.
You can clearly see a picture of broccoli in the picture, and it shows a big, meaty short rib.
This is not what I received.
There was roughly HALF of the food on the plate, no broccoli, and a miserable excuse for cabbage.
You might as well have left it off the plate.
Short rib wasn't too small, but it was almost entirely fat and obviously very cheap.
All of the meat tasted very cheap and of poor quality.
The fried rice even came in a smaller container than what was pictured on the menu.
These are deceitful and predatory ad tactics.
The small portions and poor quality of the meat suggest two things to me.
One, that this place is poorly managed and prioritizes maintaining low costs over good food and quality service.
Two that the owner, who from the reviews has only just taken over this business, is already struggling financially and is not likely to be able to maintain this business long.
Especially if they continue to operate in such a manner.
The cook is WONDERFUL.
Fried rice was phenomenal(it doesn't take good ingredients for good fried rice)only because of the skill of the chef, but they are not going to be able to save your business if you continue to INSULT them with such poor ingredients and limited portionings.

**update** theyve changed menu again and dont even sell what i was complaining about anymore which was their new menu.
Its now a Hawaiian bbq place.
For the love of god just change the name of the business.
Its not the Golden chicken inn we all knew and loved.** I wish the company would change the name.
The new owners have completely changed the luoriginal recipes.
The one we've all known and love for decades. They no longer have combo meals.
Everything you order has to be by el a carte.
And it gets insanely expensive.
75 dollars for ordering 4 items to share with a family of 3. God I'm gonna miss golden chicken inns yummy eggrolls they use to make. The egg flower soup was okay but too much pepper, made it taste spicy. The crunchy noodles for our soup was stale. Given water with no ice. Their sweet and sour pork are no longer those little soft breaded balls.
But I do admit it was still pretty good.
Just different Their Pork fried rice was pretty great.
Just different Their green beans was pretty good! And their beef chow fun was great as well. Over all, the food was pretty good, but too expensive to be spending 11 to 16 dollars a plate to share. Also the service was absolutely horrendous.
Our waiter, some young woman with black hair had zero personality.
She aggressively tossed our menus on our table and walked away.
Took a while for her to come back and when she walks in she just stares at you and doesn't say anything.
Even everytime we said thank you, she never responds.
When we paid she didnt thank us for coming in.
Didnt say goodbye or have a good day.
Just rude and didn't make us feel welcomed at all.
She looked like she was dead inside and hated her job.
For that reason alone we probably won't come back, food was good tho not gonna lie.
Good service is everything and if you don't got it, it makes you not wanna go back.
Maybe we'll order take out lol.
One day.

I didn't know this place changed owners, and when I saw it open at 10 pm on a Monday, I thought they just changed the hours.
I placed a pick-up order for my usual favorite: Orange chicken.
When I got to the restaurant to pick it up...
I started noticing the changes and quickly realized that it's a completely different restaurant under the same name.
While I waited for my food to come out, I started reading the reviews here in google maps.
I can tell there are a lot of 5 stars bot reviews and a lot of real one-star reviews, which made me think that my food was going to be bad.
Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised that, although the taste is different, it was actually pretty delicious.
My only complaint is that they don't offer fried rice as a side, only as a main dish.
It's sad that the previous owner is gone because he left with the unique taste this restaurant used to have.
However, the current owner also brings a delicious new taste.
I recommend you give it a try!
