Food is always delicious! We have ordered from here a few times for office lunches.Sandwiches are very fresh.Pizzas are delicious! The garlic rolls are amazing! And mozzarella sticks are really good too.The last 2 times tho I have tried to ordered the Stromboli, and my coworker ordered a calzone. Both time we both got calzones.
Owner response
Hello, first I want to thank you for your patronage, continued support and your review.I figured that the 4 stars is because of the confusion of the Calzone/Stromboli shape.I came here from Italy, and I found out that many people here in Portland don't know what a Stromboli means and why it has that shape. In the very south of Italy there's a volcano mountain called Stromboli. It erupted and still bubbling to this day.Pizza was invented near there and when they made a folded pizza with sauce inside they put a hole on top to breathe and when the sauce started to boil it was leaking from the top and running down just like the Stromboli mountain.Someone said look it's like Stromboli volcano, so they named it Stromboli. The Calzone is the same but instead of pizza sauce, inside it has ricotta cheese. You both got the real thing authentic Stromboli and Calzone. Many think that Stromboli should be like the ones at the mall, no way those are made-up names so they sale more of them.I hope more customers will read this and learn about how Stromboli came to be.We always will be the most authentic NY style Pizzeria and Italian cuisine and flavors. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to explain.
Was craving a cold sub but this place delivered a masterpiece! The bread was light, crispy, yet flavorful. We ordered the North Pole, Italian, & NY.The spicy bacon made it bang.We got 2 slices of cheese pizza while we waited & immediately we knew we were going back soon. The mother (I presume) was very appreciative of our business.Well worth the price especially in today's economy.
Giants has everything going for them when it comes to pizza by the slice, so it may be a while before I get to explore other items on the menu.It may seem strange, but the one thing that jumped out at me was that this may be the only by-the-slice place I've ever been to that had convenient parking.Typically these businesses are in neighborhoods that are great for walking (Hawthorne, NW 23rd, inner Division, anywhere in NYC) but you never know how far away you'll need to leave your car. As for the food, this plus-sized cart turns out lovely slices - perfect ratio of cheese to sauce on a thin crust that has a bit of crunch and a bit of chew. The combination of being able to pull into the parking lot next to the cart, and then get a slice (or two) hot from the oven makes Giants the best kind of fast food experience I can think of. And, I really want to try their sandwiches some time...
