American restaurant
The server was wonderful - this review is not a reflection of that.We originally had a table for three, but one was sick, so we ended up at a 2 top.Fine.This table was likely squeezed in for the busy weekend and was narrower than my shoulders. My dad and I (6'5" and 6') were definitely a tight fit. There was also a lot of foot traffic in this area due to it being right by the bathroom.Lastly, the decay of transparency in pricing by placing an "inflation" fee on the final bill. This can be removed if you ask - but why would anyone want to pay an "optional" fee in the first place? Why not also add a receipt line item for the building's rent? Water bill? Dish soap for the kitchen? Raise the price of the food and be honest from the start.I don't think we will be back, despite the good location (rooftop might be open soon) and good food. Edit: this was meant for the Damen location, not the Wellington.

Hi Rose. The inflation fee is disclosed on our website and on our menu. Additionally, the disclosure states we will void the fee if asked. All our servers and bartenders are trained to do this.,to void it. Like other restaurant groups in Chicago (Lettuce Entertain You, Boka and many others) we're using these fees to partially offset the constant increase in our costs, including City of Chicago mandates. We make less than 2% bottom line profit and we are just trying to stay in business.
Take the time to visit this place! Amazing cocktails, like the Bariesta's Manhattan, Smoked Sazarach and The Brown Dog Old Fashion (made by Justin and Jimmy - you guys rock!!), and fabulous food.I highly recommend getting French fries as your side (or as an extra they are perfect).I had the green salad and my husband had the bone in crispy pork chop.I believe that everything has to be just as delicious.

Thanks so much for the great review, Susan! Hope you come back soon!
The service was great. Our server was very kind, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere was definitely loud and crowded - glad we had a reservation! We dined for restaurant week and had the $42 dinner. After tax and tip, it came out to just short of $60 each. For the meal we got, we both agreed it wasnât worth that price. We started with the cheese curds. Some were good, but some were soggy/wet inside (?) that was super odd and unappetizing for us.My partner didnât care for the dip nor ketchup. We thought itâd make more sense to come with marinara or ranch. Then we got the âhalf chickenâ which must have come from the smallest chicken given that it had a tiny leg, a small breast, and no wing⌠We thought the purĂŠed pepper sauce paired with the (very) large greens were a strange combo. We also got the mushroom stroganoff and thought it was more like cacio e Pepe with mushrooms - very light and not hearty like we were expecting. Not too flavorful and was served quite cold. Then we ended with the chocolate bread pudding (served before we finished our mains, so felt very rushed since it was warm and the ice cream was melting).Bread pudding was a bit too burnt for me.Overall, would give this experience a 3.5/5, but rounded up since no possibility for half stars on Google.

A, Thanks for taking the time to share a review! While we're glad to hear that our team took great care of you throughout your meal, we're disappointed that the Chicago Restaurant Week menu was not to your liking. Our goal is to share the joy of warm, farm-fresh cooking and it sounds like we missed the mark with your meal.We always encourage our guests to let us know if they're not happy with the dish they ordered, and we will happily replace it.Please don't hesitate to reach out to our General Manager at diego@farm-bar.com if there's anything we can do to make this right. We hope we have the chance to wow you with another meal sometime soon.
