I travel through three states continuously for work.I try to stick with locally owned restaurants as much as possible.I don't have a lot of experience with Mediterranean diets, but enough to know that there are selections that I like.It was a quiet time when I walked into Caspian Grill.I was the only diner the whole time I was there during the dinner hour.I was welcomed warmly, and I took my time looking over the menu, asking a few questions along the way.I settled on a lamb kabob with a Mediterranean salad (I don't remember what it was called) and rice.Everything was delicious! Even the rice, while simply flavored, was quite tasty. The atmosphere is a little "get in, get out," but the people were friendly and the food was fantastic!
Wonderful option for Mediterranean food.We visited for a late lunch mid-week and were the only customers at the time. They have several tables inside and seem to do most of their business for takeout and delivery orders. They also offer catering. The owner served us and was extremely kind.We tried the steak kabobs, one with rice and one with fries. The menu offers a variety of other Mediterranean options as well.Prices are fair. The raw kebabs are kept in a cooler near the front, which is cool to be able to see while walking in.Our food came out fairly quickly. The meal was delicious. The kebabs were served with a side, salad, and pita bread.I really enjoyed my rice and the fires were good as well. The kebabs were well seasoned, with a good peppery flavor. The salad had a light dressing on it.The pita made the perfect vessel to make an impromptu wrap.I really enjoyed this meal.
Caspian is HIGHLY underrated! A healthy assortment of dishes from cultures surrounding the Caspian sea, anything you choose will hit the spot. As a Russian, the pelmeni, blinchki, and olivier salad took me right back to my childhood! The lamb kabob was perfectly juicy and tender, something honestly hard to find in the Madison area! The rice was SO delicious, some of the best rice we’ve ever tried from a restaurant! And the salad complimented the meat so perfectly. It was a beautifully balanced dish, and we’ll definitely order again! The beef blini, and the cheese blini were spot on.The olivier salad is the best olivier salad in Madison! This kitchen is clearly run on skills and a love for food. The service was amazing and the owners really wanted make sure our experience was to their standards! For dessert, we had baklava and honey cake.We had never tried honey cake before we came here, and it was absolutely the star of the show! A light, moist cake, with a creamy filling, honey throughout, and a raspberry sauce to give it some zing.An outstanding pastry! Overall, one of our personal favorite restaurants. The prices are great and the food is outstanding.
