Had lunch here today, no clue it was here.No clue it was this good! With the name Peru in the business name, imagine my surprise when I see Honduran on the menu! Having lived in Honduras in the 1980’s it was a sweet surprise. The food is so affordable! I was blown away by the prices.I had the Quarter Chicken with fries, cost? A whole $10!!!! The chicken was cooked on a rotisserie, which I love.Good seasoning and tender juicy meat.It comes with five different sauces to dip in.Great variety in the taste of the sauces. The fries were big and thick. Oh and the appetizer was sooo different.Sausage and Fries! Order the 12 pc wings as a take out for my wife, she loved it. I really like this place and I will be back and back and back!!!
The inside of the restaurant is tasteful, colorful, and whimsical. You almost feel as though you've actually been transported to Peru. There's an adorable photo op with mountains and a large stuffed alpaca for the kids.. Most of the sauce offering seem to be mayo based.I'm not a fan, but my dinner guest found them enjoyable. The chicken was not as exciting as I expected.I thought there would be more of a char or coal smoke flavor to the chicken, but it mostly just tasted of chili powder, which I personally didn't enjoy. The sauces apparently compliment the chicken very well, according to my dinner guest. The plantains were exactly what I expected.Nothing extra, perfect in their simplicity.I will caution if you're not a fan of raw onion to speak up.I was delighted by the aroma and the amount of raw onion personally, but I can see where someone who isn't a big fan would have been put off by it. I did give service 4 stars. They were quick and polite but our waitress didn't refill drinks and we had to flag someone else down for silverware. Over all, very clean and the food and atmosphere are nice.Would definitely recommend especially if you enjoy strong chili flavor.

My husband and I ate here for the first time today, and we have not been so pleased with a dining experience in Baton Rouge in quite a while. We were welcomed quickly and warmly and our server, Jeremiah, was outstanding.Attentive, but not obtrusive, and helpful with suggestions. We started with the Causa Rellena. The Causa Rellena is a dish made of layered chilled golden potatoes infused with yellow Peruvian peppers and lime, with avocado and wood fired rotisserie chicken salad. It’s topped with a slice of boiled egg and an olive and served with three delicious sauces. The olive based sauce is faintly purple and is salty and delicious. The orange sauce is a pepper cream sauce that adds just enough spice, and the yellow is a tangy mustard the really gives the dish some extra punch.A must-try. Our main course was the charcoal oven Peruvian rotisserie chicken (Pollo la Brassa) served with a perfect crispy skin and meltingly tender (even the white meat). Our sides were yucca fries and plantains. The flavor of the charcoal fire is amazing and the simple spice rub compliments that flavor without distracting from it.The chicken was so good that we ate it without using the dipping sauces - though they went amazingly with the yucca fries, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The plantains were nicely cooked and flavorful, and dusted with a slightly spicy chili spice. For dessert, we decided to try the Picarones, described on the menu as a Peruvian donut. However, my husband and I agreed that while doughnut shaped, this amazing dessert made with squash has a crisp exterior with a custard/bread pudding texture that is rich and delicious, especially with the honey and spice syrup served for dipping. Please try this restaurant. We have so few in Baton Rouge that offer such amazing food and service these days!
