I want to say first that the waitress we had was wonderful, knowledgeable, smart, kind and anticipated our every need. The physical location was great and the bar itself was nice. But then I have to say that the food really wasn't what I expected of a place on Masonboro Loop.
It's more bar food than it is restaurant, thus the name, I get that.
But in Wilmington we come to expect the bars and some Breweries have really good food and this was not so good.
The Caesar Salad was made with limp lettuce, with store-bought small croutons that were tasteless, I ordered the chicken and it was fine, I got some southwestern ranch to spice it up a bit..
The Buffalo shrimp was good.
I don't think my friend was thrilled with the peppers and sausage dish, but my other friend was pleased with the fish basket.
They didn't have any specials, it seemed like everything was probably just heated up in the back, not freshly made. I think that thing that got my goat was with all the prices being as high as they are now like the small Caesar salad with chicken with $17, and then add to it the buffalo shrimp.
Shrimp that was another $10 and of course the tax and the tip.
But there was also something called a convenience fee.
Now we ate there so we were perplexed about what this convenience fee was and it didn't say anywhere that if you didn't pay cash there would be a convenience fee, it didn't say what the convenience fee was for due to got gas prices or whatever it might be.
The waitress explained that they were passing on fees from the bank.
Well you know I think it would have been a little more palatable if they had simply said the price and then they handle the fee.
I don't think they need to break it out to make us feel any better about overpaying already.
Right now.
I think it's a bad managerial decision to draw our attention to it like that.
Up the prices what you need to We can see that coming at us but when you have last minute fees added on leaves.
A bad taste in your mouth no matter what you ate for dinner.

Ok.
Must update.
Please, to help correct the course of humanity, talk to Jackie and ask her for the correct way to order a pizza.
There's one way, her way, the right way to do this at bar masonboro.
Excellent 9/10.
Taco night was a thing.
More investigation necessary.

We loved this place about a year ago, then they hired a new manager, Anthony who made the place absolutely awful.
Was rude to customers & staff, would reserve the whole patio for 2 tables to watch some high school girls soccer game, or hockey game and turn away groups of people who wanted to sit outside and drink & eat, etc. BUT we heard yesterday that he is no longer there 🙌🏼 👏🏼so fingers crossed for our favorite neighborhood spot going back to being good!
